Pasadena Real Estate

A cultural hub known for its entertainment and architecture

This diverse and bustling city is a hub of culture and entertainment east of Los Angeles. With a historic downtown full of luxury shopping, sought-after restaurants, and some of the most renowned events and venues in the country, there’s always something to do in this beautiful community.

The Pasadena we know today began as a winter resort for wealthy visitors, and it maintains a rich air of fun and delight. Pasadena’s name is translated from the Ojibwa Indian Language and is interpreted to mean either “Crown of the Valley” or “Key of the Valley”. These interpretations have created the crown and key that sit on the official city seal.

Pasadena is well-designed both as a city and on an individual level. With incredible public transportation and pedestrian-friendly streets, it’s simple to get anywhere in the community. The homes themselves are full of history, with gorgeous Craftsmans built by famed architects Charles and Henry Green. In fact, the city has so much incredible architecture that people come here just to take walking tours of the most famous residences.

Local Lifestyle

Pasadena is full of educated, artistic, and community-oriented residents. Nicknamed the City of Roses, it’s home to the Rose Bowl and the iconic Rose Parade. But entertainment and beauty are just two of the things Pasadena is excellent at. Also on the list are its incredible schools, including higher education, commercial centers, and gorgeous public parks. The quality of life in Pasadena is high for everyone from young professionals and families to college students and retirees.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Stretching along Colorado Avenue and Lake Avenue, Pasadena’s commercial districts are renowned for their variety and quality.
History and innovation blend together seamlessly at The Raymond, where a classic building and authentic ingredients are given a modern twist. Alexander’s Steakhouse is a luxurious affair where the classic American steakhouse is given hints of Japanese influence. Green Street Restaurant has been serving locals delicious California cuisine since 1979. Another fine dining experience, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is perfect for everything from date nights to large celebrations.

The Paseo is a one-stop shopping destination in the heart of Pasadena’s historic district. It has beloved brands like West Elm and DSW as well as impeccable dining and things to do. The Shops on Lake Avenue is dotted with charming patios and quiet nature between big stores like TJ Maxx and Macy’s. At The Commons, shopping becomes an experience with the perfect blend of shopping and entertainment.

Things to Do

Pasadena is ripe with entertainment. The most renowned is perhaps the Rose Bowl. With an annual football game, huge concerts, and a monthly flea market (among many, many other things), the Rose Bowl is an iconic part of Pasadena’s history and present.

Another iconic Pasadena moment is the Tournament of Roses annual parade of flowers. It’s televised every year on New Year’s Day and brings visitors from around the country to watch it in person. Pasadena is home to many amazing festivals throughout the year, such as AmericaFest, Pasadena Chalk Festival and Car Show, ArtNight, Pasadena International Film Festival, and Holidayfest on South Lake Avenue. Summer brings Pasadena POPS Summer Concert Series, a five-concert series that takes place at the LA County Arboretum.

Enjoy a luxurious staycation (or just an afternoon) at the Langham Hotel. Then go just up the street to enjoy the glory of nature at Descanso Gardens and the stunning architecture of Wrigley Mansion. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the arts thanks to Pasadena Playhouse, USC Pacific Asia Museum, Norton Simon Museum. For sciences, take a tour of NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory or attend a lecture at California Institute of Technology.

Pasadena is also full of gorgeous outdoor spaces such as Pasadena Memorial Park and Central Park. It’s also easy to get out of the city and on a hiking trail at either Eaton Canyon Trail Head or Arroyo Seco North Loop.

Schools

Pasadena is home to many incredible learning institutions, from private and charter schools to the public schools of Pasadena Unified School District.
